Library
The whole reason that I started this blog was to keep track of what I have read in oh-ten. In 2009 I read a lot, but can only remember bits and pieces. I am thinking of a few more titles that I polished off last year, but...
Most of my reading is courtesy of the nearest library. In Bloor West Village, we had the Runnymede Public Library - a fine little spot. Since the majority of my lending came from there, I thought "they MUST have a record of what I have borrowed." They must right?
Nope. As an outsider you can't find anything on your account that tells you what you have borrowed. So I called. This was obviously a matter for a library professional. Nope. Professional librarians can't help you either. Unless you are a chronic overdue type, they have no idea what you have taken out.
So. I have done a little poking around. There is a feature where you can add a book that you are searching for to your list. I think that you can manage a few lists, perhaps start one as a wish list and then move over the titles to read after you have waited and waited to get the copy. Just another place to keep track I guess.

Pride and Prejudice and Zombies
Last night I decided to finish Pride and Prejudice and Zombies once and for all. It has been an entertaining book. I picked it up at the airport on my way to Montreal (for an amazing grown-up vacation with Krissi and Anne). The cover graphic alone makes it worth the cost. The looks that you get as you innocently read about the destruction of Satan's army in the English countryside are very entertaining.
I am going to save publishing my thoughts about this book, as it is the second choice in my work book club and we are meeting next week.
I will say however that I tend to judge a book by the voracity in which I am compelled to read its contents. It does not bode well if I find I am able to put a book down for stretches. With Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, I found that the novelty wore off (though not entirely) about half-way through.

My memory...
...she's not what she used to be. And though I am really dedicated to growing my brain with my new Nintendo DS and Brain Age2, I still need help in the memory department.
This blog is totally selfish. I have decided to start it because I LOVE to read and when recently asked what my fave reads of '09 were, well I was more than a little stumped. I couldn't quite remember what books I had read in the past year. I knew that there had been a lot, but I couldn't remember which ones. Pathetic.
This will be for me to keep track of what I have read. It will also help to stay on track for one of my 2010 resolutions which is to read at least three nights a week.
So, self, enjoy this blog and writing it and re-reading it when you forget what you have read.
